Did you hear? ESPN is featuring another SEC school for GameDay on October 25th. Missouri goes to Vanderbilt this weekend and as the above tweet states, will get the Game Day treatment.
Meanwhile, NDSU and SDSU, the top dogs in the FCS are meeting for the annual Dakota Marker game in Brookings, SD. This has become the biggest rivalry in the FCS.
They’re both undefeated, they’re ranked #1 and #2, and represent 12 of the past 14 national championships in the FCS.
But yes, we needed a second feature of Vanderbilt this season. Get outta here with that.
There is an obvious resume of NDSU/SDSU, I don’t understand this. Let’s break it down.
They’re familiar with both schools
GameDay first made a trip to Fargo in 2013. It was a huge deal at the time. The Bison had been ESPN darlings since the first couple matchups with the Gophers during their probationary period.
That was the first big time exposure to the mothership. Gameday returned there in 2014 to another big day in Fargo for a game.
SDSU hosted the GameDay crew in 2019 for the Dakota Marker. They are very well aware of this game and these programs.
Why go back again?
The first reason is they’re the #1 and #2 teams in the FCS. That’s easy. The second reason is NDSU and SDSU have won the last 4 national championships in a row.
Everyone knows about NDSUs initial run, but SDSU put themselves on the map In 2022 and 2023. NDSU got back on top last year.
The story writes itself! The worst part of all this? The game is being broadcast on ESPNU. ESPNU isn’t prestigious enough to broadcast a couples pickleball tournament at an Arizona snow bird retirement home.
It is not just Bison and Jack Rabbit fans sounding off. I’m sick over how obsessed every aspect of sports is becoming only about money and nothing else.
Only thing worse are people defending the SEC and ESPN like they’re not cartoonishly counting their profits while clearly more interesting storylines are available.Who’s this asshole? (Sorry Mom)
